define momentum of an object : objects in motion are said to have a momentum.
momentum is define as the product on the mass and the velocity of the object
p = mv
the prinsiple of conservation of momentum : 1) the momentum lost by the first object is equal to the momentum gained by the second object.
2)the total amount of momentum of the system remains unchanged.
- In elastic collition, the 2 object each move with velocity v1 and v2 after collition.
total momentum before collision = total momentum after collision
m1u1+m2u2 = m1v1+m2v2
m1u1+m2u2 = m1v1+m2v2
- In inelastic collision, the 2 object move together with velocity v after collision
m1u1+m2u2 = (m1+m2)v
